Quelques années plus tôt, une voyante avait prédit à Ayashi que d'obscures évènements allaient se produire mais la jeune fille n'en avait pas tenu compte. Pourtant le jour de son 16ème anniversaire, Aya est convoqué avec son frère jumeau chez la famille Mikagé et au moment où elle regarde dans un coffret, les pouvoirs qu'elle renferme se réveillent. On lui explique alors qu'elle est la réincarnation de Céres, la déesse, et que par conséquent elle doit mourir.
